New Belgium Spoke plans a fall opening at DIA

Months ago, we got wind that another New Belgium-themed outlet would soon take flight at DIA, picking up a spot on Concourse A that would be a sibling of the New Belgium Hub that serves beer and burgers in the hinterlands of Concourse B.

At that point, LeMonica Hakeem, a spokeswoman for the concessions company that owns the New Belgium airport spots, told us that New Belgium Spoke would open in May.

Delays ensued, but construction has finally begun, as well as the liquor license application process. And now Laura Coale, who does public relations for the airport, says the Spoke is looking at a fall opening.

And it won't be the same as the Hub: "It's a smaller area," Coale explains of the spot near gate A 61 where the Spoke will be located. "It's a hybrid concept with a newsstand component, bar and coffee. It doesn't have a full kitchen."

Hakeem explained that the Spoke would offer a cafe menu, with salads, sandwiches and wraps as well as a list of food for kids. Those items would be available for grab-and-go, or to eat while bellied up at the bar with a Fat Tire, poured from the tap.

Sadly, though, still no growlers of beer to go, so better get your buzz on before boarding your flight.
