Super Mini Walnut Cafe will open next week in Lafayette

Earlier this year, Julia Buonanno and Dana Derichsweiler, the owners of Boulder's Walnut Cafe and South Side Walnut Cafe, put the brakes on the food truck they ran with Ashlie Beckham, but that didn't stop them from moving full speed ahead on a project they have going in Lafayette: The women, along with long-time employee Nicole Plotkin, will open the doors to the Super Mini Walnut Cafe next week.

The new restaurant joins the flagship store, which has been open for nearly thirty years, and the Table Mesa outpost, which opened its doors six years ago. Like its siblings, Super Mini will serve an all-day breakfast menu as well as lunchtime cafe favorites, including soups, salads and sandwiches. And, also like its siblings, the Super Mini will feature pie for dessert.

Despite its name, the place isn't as mini as it sounds: The dining room at the new restaurant will seat 55, and a large patio at the shopping center space will give the place even more room to work with. Which is fortunate, since it will fill a gap in Lafayette, becoming one of the few restaurants in town to serve breakfast.

An employee at the Walnut Cafe says the doors will open at the Super Mini Walnut Cafe on Monday, August 22.
