Boulder vs. Highland West in the elite eight of our Street 16 tourney

With the first-round of the Cafe Society Street 16 neighborhood tournament in the rearview, we're on to the eight best Denver neighborhoods (and Boulder) for eating. First up is Boulder and Highland West. (Check out the winners and losers of Round 1 of the Street 16.)

Vote below!

In defense of Boulder:

It wasn't an accident that Boulder earned the designation of Foodiest Town in America from Bon Appétit in 2010: The picturesque city is teeming with top-notch industry professionals, savvy diners and, of course, excellent restaurants that range from dens of fine dining to snack shacks. Pearl Street and downtown dominate the gastronomic scene, anchored on one end by Frasca Food and Wine, Pizzeria Locale and Mateo, on the other by the Kitchen and its offshoots, as well as Zoe Ma Ma, Amu, Salt and the Bitter Bar, with Oak at Fourteenth and Black Cat in the middle.

And in defense of Highland West:

A residential area full of young professionals who love to eat out, Highland west of Federal has become one of the town's strongest restaurant neighborhoods. West 32nd Avenue anchors most of the activity in this part of town, with El Camino serving up killer house margaritas and good gringified Mexican food, bang! paying homage to Southern comfort fare, Venue turning out solidly executed American classics, Trattoria Stella offering an Italian-food-and wine fix, and Sushi Hai slicing up raw fish. Sweets fiends are addicted to Happy Cakes, and bread heads get a rise out of the Denver Bread Company.

Which do you think is the better restaurant neighborhood? Vote below!

Voting ends at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, March 25. Vote in more Street 16 match-ups.

All the restaurants listed in the paragraph about Boulder are actually in Downtown Boulder which is a 49 block radius!  So it is truly a neighborhood similar to the Highlands!

Hey...where is Louisville in this mix!?! Someone just asked me the best place to eat and I spent the next 20 minutes going over all my favorites!

The majority of Boulder's restaurants are concentrated in the downtown Pearl St area.

It didn't win the Foodiest Town in AMERICA for nothing --- fast forward - Boulder Wins !!

Not exactly a fair fight. Boulder is a city of 100,000 people, West Highlands is a couple dozen blocks. In an honest vote, Boulder as a whole should beat any individual Denver neighborhood.
