After a few predictable first-round knock-outs, the first round of Cafe Society's Street 16 neighborhood tournament was marked by landslides -- the closest match-up had a percentage differential of 18 percent (Uptown vs. South Broadway) and the biggest difference was that of 73 percent (Havana vs. South Federal.)

Just like any tournament, match-ups will get tighter going forward. Below are the results of the first round! Return to Cafe Society later today to vote in the Boulder vs. Highland West match-up.

I thought Larimer Square would take the whole thing!  I'll second Aceranchero's Highland Mommies conspiracy theory.  I think Tennyson is the weakest in the whole lot.

Agree with all but two:

It look like the Highlands Mommies or some such social mafia really came out for Tennyson over Larimer Square—seriously, as if anything on Tennyson solo or combined equals Rioja, Bistro Vendome or TAG individually. And out they came again for Highland West over LoDo. Evidently they don't travel further than they can push the baby carriage for good food. I'm a fan of all four neighborhoods but…Venue is still recovering from their young chef being poached by Bonanno; I can't go with 'gringo-fied' Mexican when the real deal is nearby on Federal or 38th; can't accept losing soul and history by booting El Chap and Wynkoop.

I'd eat at Parisi over TAG every day of the week, but otherwise have to agree.  There are a couple other good neighborhood places on Tennyson, but nothing that can touch Rioja or Osteria.

There were definitely shenanigans involved in Tennyson's victory over Larimer.

There was some campaigning on social media from restaurants and business associations for Tennyson. Which is totally fine.
