Gary Lee's Motor Club & Grub delays opening until St. Patrick's Day weekend

This property has been totally revamped to become Gary Lee's Motor Club & Grub.

Gary Lee Bomar first inked the deal on an abandoned garage on South Broadway last year, and since then, he's been working hard to overcome a series of liquor license fights that have derailed the opening of Gary Lee's Motor Club & Grub. There was light at the end of the tunnel a few weeks back though, when Bomar was slated to finish his major renovation and open for business on March 1.

"We pretty much rebuilt everything," he told us at the time. "We gutted the place and raised the roof. Even the beams were all rotted. We gave it new life."

He also revealed that he'd brought on Mike Walden, a Vesta Dipping Grill alum, and Alvie Claborn, who owns Alvie's Eats food truck, to run the kitchen, and at the time, they were putting the finishing touches on a menu that would focus on smoked meats and cheeses to pair to an unpretentious drink list, with plenty of draft beer flowing through the lines.

But he's hit another little speed bump. "We were hoping to be open by next week," says Bomar. "But now, it's looking more like St. Patrick's Day weekend. We just have too much going on."

Blame it on last-minute construction delays and inspections.
