Amerigo Delicatus will move into the former Bamboo Hut spot

It's not quite the Bamboo Hut, the legendary former tenant at 2449 Larimer Street, but an occupant has signed on for the address that once held one of the town's best Mexican (yes, Mexican) restaurants:

Amerigo Delicatus Restaurant & Market is going into the spot.

It will have a much more upscale neighbor than the salon and auto-repair spot that once held down this triangular sliver of land off Broadway. Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs already occupies the other half of the much-renovated building, at 2445 Larimer.

Amerigo's managers, Iain and Michael Chisholm, have a date with the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses on June 7 for a liquor license.

Although the food planned at Amerigo -- including handmade delicacies -- sounds a lot more upscale than what was served at the Hut, plenty of alcohol once flowed through this space.
