Tarasco's New Latin Cuisine offers a taste of Michoacan on Federal

This city is overflowing with Mexican restaurants, everything from green chile joints to taco trucks to gringified burrito-mongers. And from the outside, Tarasco's New Latin Cuisine, stuck in a South Federal Boulevard strip mall, doesn't exactly stand out.

Inside, though, hidden on a long list of dishes that include hot dogs, tortas and enchiladas, are specialties from Michoacan, a Mexican state located on the southwest coast -- home to Tarasco's owner Noe Vernudez.

For this week's review, I ate my way through much of the Tarasco's menu, sampling both Michoacan fare and more run-of-the-mill offerings, washing them all down with the freshly squeezed juices that Tarasco's offers in place of alcohol.

How was the food? Find out tomorrow when the review is posted here.
