Speaking of Colorado beers, isn't there some kind of Colorado beer appreciation festivities starting today? Seems like you guys are normally all over this.

There is also High Hops Brewery in Windsor planning to open this summer as well.

An existing brewery in Greeley, Crabtree Brewing, is planning to move their facility in its entirety to a more central location in Greeley starting with their tap room in late July and then the rest of their operation by mid-2013.

That is great news for Crabtree. They are really making a name for themselves.

Prost Brewing is not going to "brew and serve only lighter German-style beer."  In fact, Dunkel *means* "dark."  They are primarily going to be serving lagers (along with an ale, like his award winning hefe, which is a beer of legends), but there are many different styles of lager, including pilsner, dopplebock (a big alcohol, malty german lager), oktoberfest marzen, and other beers nearly lost to antiquity.  Bill Eye has said that craft lagers are the next big thing in American beers, and I hope he is right.  He brings with him an incredible store of history about German beer and brewing techniques, and right down to his genuine German brewery equipment, he is going to be making an authentically German product, brewed in the good ol' US of A!

Thanks for the comments, Broke4Beer. By "lighter," I mean in comparison to the heavier stouts, IPAs and other big ales that get most of the attention these days.

Thanks for the list, Jonathan. Is Hogshead really that close? Drove by a week or two ago and it still looked like a service station.

That's what I was told, but perhaps it's just wishful thinking. I know the neighbors around there can't wait.

I talked to Mike last week, and he said May 25 --- with a bit of hesitation. The brewery setup is in place, but the bar/seating area is being constructed. The outside renovations have also begun (new door & windows).
