TRVE Brewing opens today at 4 p.m., and if an early-June open house is any indication, the place is going to be packed. The neighborhood spot, located in the former Rule Gallery space, will likely have three beers on the tap and what might be the most hard-core community table in Denver: a thirty-foot-long wooden beast.

Owner Nick Nunns describes TRVE (pronounced "true") as a "a dive mead hall" with an intimate feel. A former electrical engineer, Nunns signed a lease on the space last December, but he's been crafting his business plan for two years.

The brewery and taproom includes a three-barrel brewing system, a bar that seats about forty people and a black metal music theme.

On June 9, about 300 people showed up for an open house at TRVE, where they sampled one of the beers and bought $50 memberships in the Growler CVLT, which is limited to 266 people. Members get discounts on growler fills and super-cool status. Nunns sold about two thirds of the growlers that day and will be selling the rest this week.

TRVE's first three beers will be: Wanderlust, a 5.5 percent ABV Belgo-American Pale Ale made with pilsner malt, American hops and Belgian yeast; Black Cascade, a 6.6 percent ABV India Black Ale that uses Cascadian hops; and Prehistoric Dog, a 3.5 percent ABV Salted Wheat Beer that is similar to a Gose.
