Patxi's Pizza chain is coming to Denver this fall

Patxi's (pronounced pah-cheese) Pizza -- a San Francisco-based pizza chain -- is opening two locations in the metro area later this year: one in Cherry Creek at 185 Steele Street and one in Englewood at 3455 South University Boulevard.

"With seven successful locations in the Bay area, we are ready to take the next step and bring our concept to the Denver market," co-owner William Freeman said in a statement about the expansion. "We're committed to becoming a vital part of the Denver community by creating more than a hundred jobs, sourcing ingredients locally whenever possible and giving back through our charitable endeavors."

Patxi's specializes in Chicago-style pizza, but offers regular and thin crusts options as well beer and wine; view the menu here. And look for both Patxi's to open in the fall.

Just at there at their "practice lunch". Wow, its real folks. Serious Chi-Town Pizza! Great beers on tap too. Greek salad had butter bib lettuce in it, fabulous take on a greek salad. They told me they don't have a freezer in the place. Spinach was fresh, sausage had hints of fennel and garlic. Crust was light and not greesy (ie. uno's chain resturants). Loved it and will be back, no idea how they could improve with more practice. If your from Chicago this pizza will remind you of home, it did me.

@guest Seriously? You don't like Chicago-style pizza, then - that looks like a classic Chicago deep-dish pie, a style of pizza that Colorado currently lacks. I'm excited to see a new pizza place that isn't yet another wood-fired neopolitan joint (which I love, but enough is enough). Now we just need some solid New Haven style pizza...

@monopod Looks like a Chicago pie to me - something we are sorely lacking in Denver (agreeing with you on that). Did you have a look at the menu though? Them is some pricy pies. Of course, the rent at that address in the heart of CCN can't be cheap.

@Denver Dave Keep in mind that there's probably 2x to 3x as much mass and volume to a Chicago deep-dish pie than there is in a regular thin-crust pie, so $20 for a 12" pie that'll easily fee three people doesn't seem out of line to me. Of course, it all comes down to quality - if these are great pizzas with fresh and tasty ingredients then I'm happy to pay more. If they're filled with Sysco cheese and tasteless sausage, then not so much.
