Culinary Calendar for the weekend: Summer's not over yet
There's a cornucopia of culinary events this weekend -- from farm celebrations both urban and rural to beer olympics, wine festivals, a toga party and more.![]()
Last year's brewers' olympics at Vine Street.
Here's a taste of what's on the menu:
Vine Street Pub's Uptown Block Party and Brewers Olympics takes place today outside the brewery at 1700 Vine Street. The seven-hour event will pit notables like Wynkoop, Breckenridge, Odell and Great Divide against one another in a series of beer-themed (and -fueled) games. Twelve brewers will be competing -- and donating 35 varieties of beer -- to help raise funds for New Era Colorado. There will also be a performance by String Cheese Incident's Keith Moseley. The shindig starts at 1 p.m. and admission is free, with pints going for $5. Visit the website for more information.
The 21st annual Colorado Mountain Winefest pours into Riverbend Park, 451 Pendleton Street in Palisade, today from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival features wines from fifty Colorado wineries, live music, chef demonstrations, interactive seminars, a Grape Stomp and ice-carving. Tickets are $43 and can be purchased here.
