Grow Local Colorado's annual potluck is tonight
"This is a zero-waste event, so we really encourage people to bring their own plates, silverware and food," says Dana Miller, Grow Local Colorado's director.
Grow Local Colorado is a progressive collection of volunteers who aim to promote local food, community and economy through the cultivation of numerous gardens around the Denver area, as well as hosting gatherings throughout the year. Although it has been holding potlucks since 2009, this is the first in collaboration with Waste Farmers, an agricultural company specializing in the production of organic soils, fertilizers an other composting products.
"We're about giving people who are interested in agriculture in Denver a place to meet so that they can share and celebrate their passion with one another," Miller says.
While the Grow Local Colorado Facebook page encourages people to RSVP, Miller insists it's not a requirement to attend the potluck.
