Photos: Mici Handcrafted Italian now open in Stapleton
The Miceli family opened their third Mici Handcrafted Italian restaurant yesterday, this one in Stapleton, in the former home of An's Lemongrass -- and right across from a Montessori school...which initially presented a problem. "We're a family-owned Italian restaurant," says Kim Miceli-Vela, one of the family members behind Mici Handcrafted Italian. "We're extremely family-friendly. But you can't have an Italian restaurant without wine."

Thanks to a rule change by the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses, though, the owners were able to apply for that license before opening the third Mici yesterday -- with wine.
- Mici Handcrafted Italian will open a third place in Stapleton -- with wine, with any luck
- For its new rule on liquor licenses near schools, Denver deserves extra credit
The original Mici Handcrafted Italian opened eight years ago downtown; a second opened four years ago in Cherry Creek. And response at Stapleton has been great so far, Miceli-Vela reports: "The the community is really embracing us."
