Utah's Epic Brewing will open a second brewery in Denver in 2013

Utah's Epic Brewing Company, known for its Brainless on Peaches beer, announced at the Great American Beer Festival today that is is hoping to open a second brewery in Denver in early 2013. If it does, Epic would be one of the first out-of-state breweries to open a second location in Colorado. Several Colorado breweries, including New Belgium and Oskar Blues, are planning second locations on the East Coast.

Founded in 2008 in Salt Lake City by David Cole and Peter Erickson, the brewery is one of a couple that opened after Utah changed its brewing laws that year.

Brewmaster Kevin Crompton said Epic wants to have a fifteen-barrel brewery up and running in the Mile High City by February, according to numerous reports from from a room full of media members attending a GABF luncheon in town.

Westword will update this post when we hear back from either Cole, who is in Denver for GABF, or Erickson, who is in Utah.

Seems kind of strange.  it isn't as if UT is that far away.  So I am wondering why Denver and not someplace further east.

@winbassett @epicbrewing a second brewery in Denver is not interesting when it's a state over. Go somewhere not already saturated and nearby
