Pasquini's is back in business on 17th Avenue

Tony Pasquini has returned to 17th Avenue with a new/old pizzeria. The latest Pasquini's will open at 11 a.m. today in the former J.R.'s space at 777 East 17th Avenue.

The restaurant had a soft opening last night, when diners got a sneak peek.

Because of the size of this two-story space, Pasquini's on 17th Avenue it looks quite a bit different than the original Pasquini's location on South Broadway, which is now owned by Tony's sister. And it also looks very different from the first Pasquini's on 17th Avenue, which Tony had franchised and today is a link in the Serioz chain.

The new Pasquini's has two bars -- upstairs and downstairs -- and plenty of space for private dining, including upholstered booths on the second level and large rooms with curtains for events.

It's been a busy year for the 25-year-old chain of pizzerias. This past winter, Tony opened a Pasquini's in Cherry Creek that quickly changed its name to Tony P's due to "family issues." There have been more negotiations with franchisees as Tony worked to buy back ownership in the company he started with his mother.

And considering the new location's prime real estate, things won't be slowing down anytime soon.

I live right down the street and happy to see something eye opening on that block. The eggplant parm and lasagna are the best in town. The neighborhood can use a spot like this - casual and comfy with great food and atmosphere.

That building's paint job is an abomination, much like the food for the last 5 years at this Italian eatery. How do they stay in business, They suck!!!!!

The paint job looks like someone left the decision to a 6 yr old. The neighborhood hates it. And for the owner to spread a rumor that the paint job was done to "honor" the gay-bar history of the building is an insult to gay people everywhere. If the owner's judgment is that bad, God knows what the food and service will be like.
