Reader: Papa John's needs the dough to pay Peyton Manning!

Since Peyton Manning doesn't work fulltime as a Papa John's spokesman, CEO John Schnatter doesn't have to cover the quarterback's health insurance (which has to be hefty). And he'd like to make sure that as many Papa John's employees as possible work under thirty hours a week, so that the company doesn't have to pay their health insurance costs as mandated under the Affordable Health Care Act.

I love Papa John's pizza, business cost are factored in for every business that is created. The RISK of money in and out of the day to day operations of running that business. A business has to make a profit, or there is no sense in the owners taking the risk of losing the money to GIVE people jobs. The pizza business is competitive and you have to stay in the competitive range of pricing, or you lose customers and go out of business. If there were no RISKS in owning a business, everyone would have one. More people prefer to NOT take the risks of their money, time, etc, So they DON'T have a business and prefer to work FOR someone in a job they like and go home. They do not have to worry about anything concerning the business (long hours, money they don't have, that was borrowed to start the business and has to be paid back, headache of employees not showing up for work, etc, etc) . Customer loyalty programs, giving me a free pizza, keeps me coming back to Papa Johns- this helps the middle class (me) to be able to buy the Pizza, and the choice of buying from them again, when I can afford to eat out the next time.

Would you pay a few dollars more for pizza from a company that covered its employees' health insurance? Or are you sold on anything that Peyton would sell?

In 2008, Papa John's CEO received $600,000 salary. In just 3 years his compensation has more than quadrupled to 2,742,000+. Fourth quarter 2011 revenues were $306.2 million, a 6.8% increase from fourth quarter 2010 revenues of $286.8 million. Now Ask Yourself... who made this success possible? Who baked, delivered, and provided the support for those 2,383,000,000 (that's billions) pizzas that fed Papa "John's" big fat belly of success? 16,500 Papa John's hard-working employees.  According to Papa John's CEO, John Schnatter, ""Papa John's had an exceptional fourth quarter and full year 2011," commented Papa John's Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, John Schnatter. "We achieved the highest net openings in ten years and delivered our eighth consecutive year for even or positive comparable sales growth. Fourth quarter 2011 revenues were $306.2 million, a 6.8% increase from fourth quarter 2010 revenues of $286.8 million. Fourth quarter 2011 net income was $16.0 million, compared to fourth quarter 2010 net income of $14.0 million. How do you think this "Papa" has decided to show his employees HIS "appreciation" and gratitude for THEIR hard work? How is he going to show his workers that HE "values" THEIR "achievement  netting their company its highest net openings in 10 Years? He's threatened to CUT EMPLOYEE HOURS and institute MASSIVE LAYOFFS. Why? Because under Obama's Affordable Healthcare Act, "Papa" can't screw his employees by limiting their hours to under 30 so they don't qualify for healthcare. It seems "Papa" doesn't value his employees enough to commit 14 cents per pizza to help cover their health insurance. Don't feed this porker's greed... Boycott Papa John's.
