From Tom's Urban 24 to True Food Kitchen: Restaurant roll call for October

tom's urban outside.jpg
Tom's Urban 24 is now open -- at all hours.
There's been a lot of buzz about Tom's Urban 24, the 24-hour restaurant at the edge of Larimer Square that opened just in time to become a hip Halloween haunt. But that was far from the only development on the dining scene in October. More than a dozen new restaurants opened, several more changed concepts and/or identities...and a few longtime hangouts closed their doors.

Keep reading for our Restaurant Roll Call for October.

One that you missed: Cafe Byblos at 4th and Corona (across the street from Waffle Brothers) opened before the end of October.

Tom's is pretty cool, and they're going to do killer business at all hours of the day.

They've really got to stop calling that tortilla soup with rice noodles "pho" though.  It doesn't resemble pho in any way, shape, or form.  Not even a distant relative of pho; not a "tweaked" or "deconstructed" or "modern" pho.  And no, calling it "urban pho" doesn't help either.  It's going to piss people off that order it, and it's pretty embarrassing to think that the out-of-towners that eat there (and there will be a lot of them) will get the idea that pho in Denver looks and tastes like that.

Madison Street closing is misleading, TAG Burger Bar should be listed under Re-opening since it is the same owners and location, etc. Just a new name/slightly different concept.

@mfine817 we note in the intro that several restaurants changed identities/concepts -- as we'd previously reported on Cafe Society.

Dylan Moore also switched Delite to Juanita's, for example. In that situation as well as the case of Madison/TAG Burger, we felt the switch was so drastic that we marked the original restaurant closed (so that no one would try to go to Delite, for example), and then listed its replacement as a new restaurant.
