Reader: Venue had promise, but it also had problems

No customers, now no Venue.
Just shy of its fourth birthday, Venue has closed its doors. Owner Holly Hartnett had opened her restaurant in the former Highland home of 8 Rivers on November 12, 2008, and although the place met with early acclaim -- especially for chef James Rugile, now working with Frank Bonanno -- readers weren't surprised when Lori Midson broke the news that Venue was no more.

Says Jon_S:

I'm frankly surprised Venue lasted as long as it did. The food was great when it opened, but the service was pretty spotty. Both the food and service then went downhill after the first year or so.

It's too bad really. Venue had such promise when it opened, but the owner never seemed to address rather simple problems, and indeed let them get much worse over time.

Now that Heidi's is closing down that would be a great location for a deli.
