Parry's Pizzeria & Bar will open a fourth location in 2013 -- after celebrating the end of the world
David Parry might be throwing an end-of-the-world party at two of his restaurants, but he's not planning on the world ending just yet. After all, he hopes to open a Parry's Pizzeria and Bar at 5970 South Holly Street in Greenwood Village in February, and then add two more locations by the end of 2013. The pizza and craft beer will keep coming, whether there's an apocalypse on December 21 or not.
Parry's Pizzeria and Bar.
Pizza is at the heart of this growing chain. But when Parry decided to open a third location in Highlands Ranch, he added an emphasis on craft beers and opened the place in January 2012 with a slightly changed name (from Parry's Pizza to Parry's Pizzeria & Bar)and fifty craft beers on tap. That emphasis will flow over to the Greenwood Village restaurant, to help fill what Parry perceives as a craft-beer gap in the suburbs. "I think the popularity of craft beer continues to grow year after year," he says. "Being down south, there are craft-beer enthusiasts, but there are no destinations."
But before the beer starts flowing there, Parry will host parties on Friday, December 21, at both the Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock locations. (There's a third spot, the original, in Parker.) The parties start at 6 p.m., with beer specials from such local breweries as Odell's and Oskar Blues, along with beers from breweries in California.
There will also be a special end-of-the-world menu, based on popular last-meal requests. "Steak and eggs is a common meal that is chosen on death row, so we did our take on that," Parry says. "We're doing a steak and eggs and green chili sandwich." Another special menu item will be a bacon and mac-and-cheese pizza.
