For decades, Curtis Park Creamery has been a mainstay for good Mexican food in the Curtis Park/Five Points area. The take-out joint got its start back in 1969, when Lawrence and Beatrice Rodriguez opened a neighborhood market in a spot already known as Curtis Park Creamery, where Lawrence's brother had operated a soft-serve shop; the couple sold sold prepared beans and chile on the side. Demand for the food outpaced demand for groceries, though, and soon the Creamery dropped the market concept altogether.

Today the business is run by Rodriguez daughters Loretta Chavez and Deborah Poynter and Deborah's husband, Michael, with Chavez and granddaughter Megan Wells behind the stove. Though other changes have been made along the way -- combo plates, shredded chicken and quesadillas were added to the menu after Lawrence Rodriguez stepped down in 1999 -- when Gretchen Kurtz reviewed Curtis Park Creamery two months ago, she noted that "the place remains bare-bones, with walls that look like they haven't seen a fresh coat of paint in years, an amusement park-style metal railing to queue around, and, most conspicuously, no tables."

But that's not the case at Curtis Park Creamery II, which opened this week on 1901 South Havana in Aurora.

What is the address of the Aurora place or did I miss it in the article?  I already have four eyes but, at my age, that's not always beneficial.

It's included in the last sentence of the post: 1901 South Havana.
