Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato will open in Englewood in mid-February
Boulder-based Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato, which landed a spot on Forbes Traveler's America's Best Ice Cream list in 2008 (and has amassed dozens of additional accolades ever since), is opening in Englewood, in February, at Kent Place, the new retail and loft development at University and Hampden that also lays claim to the city's first (and only) Fresh Fare by King Soopers and Patxi's Pizza, a San-Francisco-based pizza palace that specializes in deep-dish pies.
This will be the sixth Glacier Ice Cream shop in Colorado, says president Mark Mallen, who opened the original store in Boulder in 2001 (there are also locations in Louisville, Colorado Springs and Golden) and is licensing the Englewood location. And while each store is different, Mallen says that the newest outpost will mimic those before it by churning out "a great variety of homemade ice creams, gelatos and fresh sorbets that are unique and use local ingredients."
This particular store, he notes, will feature upwards of sixty flavors, including some not offered in other locations. "Everything will be made in-house, and a lot of the ingredients will come from Denver-based bakeries and candy-makers," he says, noting, however, that the fan favorites -- coffee caramel-crunch, chocolate peanut butter, key lime and lemon gelato -- are permanent staples.
The space, a new buildout, will open in mid-February, directly next door to Patxi's.
