Beer calendar: Star Bar runs the Avery gauntlet and Dry Dock takes it in the can
Several Denver breweries and restaurants will serve as mini art galleries between now and February 10, displaying the work of more than twenty artists who use recycled skis and snowboards as their canvases. The displays are part of Art of Winter, "a snow-inspired exhibition featuring Colorado artists and innovators expressing their passion and creativity in their everyday work," according to the Colorado Brewers Guild.
You can find the pieces at Backcountry Provisions, Crave Dessert Bar, Denver Beer Co (check out the limited edition Sonny Bono skis), Euclid Hall (which has a bacon snowboard), Renegade Brewery and Strange Brewing.

BRU, the home-based brewery started by Centro Latin Cuisine chef Ian Clark, will release its third bottled beer, Beezel, this month in Boulder-area liquor stores. The beer is a Belgian-style golden ale made with honey, black pepper and bitter orange peel. The 9.3 percent ABV beer joins Citrum and Obitus in BRU's lineup.
Elevation Beer Company, which opened in May in Poncha Springs, announced this week that it produced 935 barrels last year, overshooting its projections by 40 percent and qualifying it as one of the biggest -- if not the biggest -- Colorado breweries to open in 2012. Because of that growth, Elevation recently added three new fermenters and two Meheen bottling lines that will allow it brew up to 4,000 barrels a year. That also means that Elevation will be able to expand distribution of some of its previously limited beers, like First Cast IPA and Little Mo' Porter, to accounts on the Front Range; those beers will both be sold in four-packs, as opposed to 750 ml bottles.
Lucky Pie Pizza in LoDo will fete Crazy Mountain Brewing in Edwards starting at 4 p.m. today as part of its weekly pint night. You can try the brewery's Snowcat Coffee Stout side by side with a barrel-aged version of the same beer, as well as nitro Snowcat Coffee Stout. The first fifty people to order a pint can keep the glass.
The Lobby is kicking off a monthly beer dinner series today with a four-course feast featuring paired beers from Renegade Brewing, along with a welcome beer cocktail. The Lobby will feature one Colorado brewery each month with a special tap handle all month long. Tonight's Renegade dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.; for info and reservations, call 303-997-9911.
The Yak & Yeti will tap its 5.2 percent ABV Orange Chocolate Porter (only one keg) today at 4 p.m.
The Copper Kettle will tap a firkin of IPA that has been aged with jasmine as part of its weekly Firkin Wednesday program. The taproom opens at 3 p.m.
