Under the Sun rises in Boulder

Under the Sun, the new, "slightly upscale" restaurant and taphouse created by the owners of the Mountain Sun Pub & Breweries group, is now open in the space underneath Southern Sun Pub & Brewery at 627 South Broadway in Boulder.

The eatery features 21 in-house beers on tap, as well as up to ten rotating guest taps; a cocktail program is also in the works.

"This restaurant is simply a different room in the Mountain Sun house," explains Mountain Sun's founder, Kevin J. Daly. "We have always strived for our pubs to be gathering places for great food, craft beer and free-flowing conversation. This concept will strive to do the same; we are excited to put a new spin on our mission for the Mountain Sun family of pubs."

The menu, which was a collaborative effort between Mountain Sun executive chef Annabelle Forestall and Top Chef competitor Melissa Harrison, focuses on local products and dishes cooked in the restaurant's wood-fired oven; visit the Facebook page for the full selection.

Roast chicken, sausages and pretzels are all awesome.  It reminds me of a mellower, more Bouldery Euclid Hall in some ways - hopefully they'll add poutine to the menu at some point.  Great stuff, glad to have them in town.
