I realize that some of you go sea-wild over clam strips, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with these...but I still don't understand the allure. What am I missing?

I guess I'm a victim of my Howard Johnson's upbringing but lord help me I do love me some clam strips - not as much as the whole belly fried clams at Crissfield's  in Silver Spring, MD of course but this ain't the Chesapeake Bay.  So, I'm guessing Philo99 may be correct and these little morsels of yumminess are from Yorkshire Fish and Chips (love that place).
