Photos: Sumo Sushi gets into the ring in Aurora

Sumo Sushi opened last week at 2353 South Havana Street in Aurora. Westword's Danielle Lirette brought back these photos from the restaurant, which features local sports-themed rolls as specials. Score!

Bummer... I was hoping this was an extension of Sumo Sushi in Southern California: they have taken over two former Fuddrucker's and are BUSY LIKE MAD. The burger line is now a row of sushi chefs pumping out first quality rolls and nigiri on small plates, not big refrigerated trays like that nasty place that occupied Cherry Creek Mall a decade ago.

Then there are long buffet lines of hot seafood, soups, noodle dishes; salads and cold seafood dishes; and finally an array of horrible desserts alongside some of the most beautifully prepared fresh fruit.

The AYCE sushi place up north next to Ocean Pacific Market is grotesque. This will take some nerve to attempt.

Ate there last night ... they offer an All You Can Eat for $23 in addition to the a la carte menu items ... and one super-friendly super-hottie waitress.

Went to YELP and found out they pack on the rice and tiny specs of fish. I'm sure there are signs that "you must eat rice or be charged extra." Why not just charge $45 and serve good sushi instead of meting out "rice punishment?"

That's still not enough to get me to eat in a bait & tackle shop.

@foodcrazy ... you've had way more disgusting things in your mouth than raw fish.

Besides, they have a full menu of seared land animal flesh, bovine and avian muscle tissue, for knuckle-draggin' Neanderthals like you.
