Reader: Watching Guy Fieri eat is true torture

Thumbnail image for guyfieri_web.jpg
Guy Fieri has visited Sam's #3, Steuben's and Fat Sully's. And during last night's episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, he made it to Highland Tavern, where he devoured a pastrami sandwich and some of the kitchen's homemade tater tots.

But while Denver restaurants appreciate national attention, is this really the national attention they want?

Watch Guy Fieri eat pastrami? I thought the United States no longer condoned torture.

Did you see last night's edition of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives? Where do you think Guy Fieri should go next? (No fair saying "Hell.")

Meh, he's famous and makes more money in one day than you'll see in your whole life.  Watching ANYONE eat is disgusting, not just Guy Fieri.  I'd eat those sandwiches the same exact way he does...in a nice big bite...and it would gross me out to watch even myself eat a sandwich.  Fact is, watching people eat is gross.  All you haters that go out to restaurants, while you don't realize it, the staff there are probably trying to choke back vomit when they see you shoving food into your filthy, disgusting faces, swallowing it down your gullets like slobbering pigs, while you talk like a neanderthal and spit your food all over the goddamn place.

Get over it.  Guy's better than you.  He makes more money than you.  He'll always do better than you.  There's nothing at all you can do about it, except not watch his show.  Or, better yet, support the local business that he brings to your attention.

I don't get why people get so enraged over Guy Fieri. The guy himself is irritating, but it seems more like people can't stand that an "everyman" is daring to showcase their fav restaurants to those plebes who watch his show. Get over it y'all.

Whether you like him or not, he brings national attention to local businesses, who would have a problem with that?

Nothing like watching haters beat a dead horse. Don't like him, don't watch. But, you cannot deny the good he does for so many places.

I couldn't stand hearing John Madden announce football games, but watched because I love football. Same situation here, but with food. Just deal with it.

it's time for Westword to move on from the Guy Fieri hate campaign. it makes the publication look really petty. he is who he is, let's all get on with our lives, people

I don't get the hate. His show is entertaining, and he does a good job promoting local restaurants. We all know he isn't any kind of chef. He's douchey, so what?

How about forgetting Guy Fieri, and focusing on where he was, Highland Tavern's menu is awesome and the place is unpretentious, unlike so many of the other places opening in the Highlands today, yes it is a real neighborhood bar!
