Red Claw on South Federal is now Vietnam Bay

Red Claw Seafood & Wings was part of a small wave of seafood-cum-Cajun-cum-Asian joints that washed up in Denver a few years ago. Now the spot at 472 South Federal Boulevard has changed hands -- and names. Although the new owners say they've kept the same concept, the name has been changed to Vietnam Bay, and a few Vietnamese items have been added to the menu.

This spot is still one of the few places where Denverites can get crawfish by the pound; they come flavored with your choice of seasonings and accompanied by potatoes, corn and sausage.

Vietnam Bay is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; call 720-328-3620 for more information.

I left Vietnam Bay hoping that I would not become violently ill that night. The crawfish and the shrimp came in clear plastic bags. Anything, especially shell fish, that's served to you in a clear plastic bag of liquid is a red flag. The fried fish sampler was basically a doughy mess of fish chunks. We had a hard time figuring out what type of fish we were eating.  Maybe the the Vietnamese food is okay but if you're going to advertise yourself as a Cajun joint then you need to at least have crawfish a step or two above terrible.

I miss Richard Lee Noodle House that was at this address a long time ago.

@avs1cup Is that where it was? I ate there years ago - late '90s? - and remember really loving it. Back before I knew that Federal was noodle heaven.

@Mantonat yep, but it closed years ago and then Red Claw took over the space.  It was a bummer because Richard Lee was so good.
