Trader Joe's begins building its first Denver store

Five months after getting its liquor license, Trader Joe's has finally begun work on its first Denver store, located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Bulldozers began rolling at 790 Colorado Boulevard, where there will eventually be an 18,000-square-foot outlet of the California-based market chain.

The location will also include a liquor store; it will be the only Trader Joe's liquor store in the state. The company also plans to build a store in Boulder, at 1906 28th Street.

The Denver store is scheduled to be open by the end of this year.

Any idea why Trader Joe's insisted on going in at this corner, where there's not enough room for the store and parking, as opposed to anchoring the redeveloped CU site two blocks away?  Doesn't make any sense.

@avs1cup B/c that is the M.O. of all Trader Joes.  They go into cheap crappy areas (usually bad strip malls) with rotten parking situations.  I have only ever seen one that had somewhat decent parking.

@avs1cup I think you just set a new Cafe Society speed record for complaining about parking.

The Trader Joe's in San Diego that was built in a part of the old Naval Training Center is not in a crappy neighborhood and has plenty of adequate parking.
