Backcountry Provisions, the Steamboat Springs-based mini-chain that added a LoDo store in 2010, has changed its name to Backcountry Delicatessen.

"The brand refresh represents more than a name change; it's a progression of our business which positively represents our commitment to our customers and desire to expand to other locations," says Backcountry co-founder David Pepin."We felt it was essential to elevate the company's profile as we position ourselves for expansion. We're continuing to enhance the overall Backcountry Delicatessen experience while maintaining our core values to prepare and serve only the highest-quality, natural, great-tasting food, with incredibly friendly service, and to always be active in the community."

Pepin and co-founder Peter Boniface, high-school friends from Massachusetts who moved to Steamboat Springs to ski, opened their first Backcountry location in Steamboat Springs in 1999. They expanded to Jackson Hole in 2005, Fort Collins in 2007, and Denver in 2010 -- where wine and beer were added to a menu that included sandwiches (with both breakfast and build-your-own options), salads and soups.

"Active, on-the-go-lifestyles require wholesome, delicious food, whether at work or hiking a 14er," says Boniface."There's no need to compromise on taste or quality just because you're busy. Backcountry Delicatessen is dedicated more than ever to connect with customers on a personal level and happily fuel their everyday and epic adventures."
