May showers bring beer flowers at taphouses in Denver, Boulder and Loveland
New Belgium Brewing just announced that construction of its new brewery in Asheville, North Carolina, will be delayed by eight months, meaning the facility may not start making beer until 2016. "The adjusted construction timeline is the result of increased capacity coming online in Fort Collins this year," New Belgium said in a statement. "With 70,000 barrels of capacity recently added, the Fort Collins brewery can produce up to 920,000 barrels, which will take New Belgium through 2015 sales projections."

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse in Loveland will debut Over My Dead Body, an India Pale Lager, today in its taproom. The new beer will only be available on draft at the taphouse and at a few select accounts. Grimm primarily brews German-style beers, so an IPL is an unusual choice for the brewery; in fact, company president Don Chapman points out that he has been quoted as saying he would make a hoppy beer like this "over my dead body." Thus, the name. IPLs are like pale ales or IPAs, but are made with lager yeast rather than ale yeast, which can give them a lighter, crisper finish.
