The Boulder location of H Burger Co.,1710 Pearl Street, has shuttered, and the LoDo location of the local burger chain will soon follow suit.

The leases for both spots have been sold -- the Boulder one to a new, yet-to-be-announced restaurant, and the downtown location at 1555 Blake Street to an undisclosed company.

The date for the LoDo closure hasn't been finalized, although the staff confirms that it will be soon. Little H Burger will remain open on 727 Colorado Boulevard, as will the two locations of T|ACO (1175 Walnut Street in Boulder, 1550 Blake Street), both of which are under the same ownership as H Burger.

The one time I ate there I got sick afterward.  Threw my leftovers out.  Didn't taste that great anyway.

Not surprising after the health code violations. The horrible customer service didn't help either.

Went to the Boulder location once and was underwhelmed.  Not bad, but I was expecting more for the price and the hype.  Burgers are ubiquitous and simple (if deceptively tricky to execute right) - if you're going to make them your exclusive focus and charge twice as much as other solid options like Larkburger and Smashburger, then you need to consistently nail them.  HBurger didn't.

They keep offering Groupon-type deals valid only at the LoDo location.  Oops.

Is that why they have been offering up more groupons lately? To bring in more business?

The "H Burger" you linked to in the post is apparently in Baghdad...so, unless they're closing down to move to their new home in Iraq, I think it might be wrong.

Have we finally reached peak burger? Maybe people are actually looking for something different now.

Sorry it didn't work for them but it didn't fit with the neighborhood. Too many burger joints!

That's a shame.  We used to frequent the downtown location quite a bit.  It wasn't amazing but the salads and chicken fingers were damn good and the fries, both the sweet potato and regular, were really good.  Plus it was kind of nice to know of a place downtown that wasn't hard to get in to.  A few days ago we tried the Little HBurger since we moved closer to that location and are further from downtown.  It was horrendous.  The fries were so bad they were actually inedible...completely undercooked and "off" tasting.  I was embarrassed for them.  You kind of have to WORK at it to make inedible fries.

Saw this one coming a mile away.  Not a tremendous amount of foot traffic on that end of Pearl, and expensive and only so-so (the one time I went) burgers.  Not to mention a burger-centric place in Boulder is a hard (though not impossible) sell.

No. Hopefully its Boulder replacement will be something other than burgers or pizza. The market is fairly saturated with both.

The lodo restaurant was fantastic with some of the best burgers.. Well..ever. Very sad.

Not too surprising.  Last time we went, we were one of two couples in the restaurant, even though both places on either side were packed to the brim.  Slow service, slow/cold food, expensive for what you get, and just a bad atmosphere.  Nothing had changed on the menu in a year and a half.

"Twice as much" is not accurate/fair. H Burger's price includes fries. So, for example, the bacon egg cheeseburger is $11 at H, Smashburger bacon cheese burger with egg add and fries, $8/$9 (depending if 0.25# vs 0.5#). Larkburger, no such beast possible, so, plain cheeseburger with fries, $8 (0.33#).

That said, the H burger (the green chili cheeseburger) was OK, nothing to write home about, especially during grilling season: rather make my own.

@NoBoBear True enough, I hadn't checked the prices to confirm.  My bill was definitely higher at H Burger, but perhaps that's because of the beverage options and tips.  Fact remains, though, that I leave Larkburger happy and looking forward to a return visit, and I left H Burger thinking "Meh, not worth the hype or cost."
