Reader: Plenty of places in town do handmade pasta

When Lori Midson dropped by a red-sauce place for a disappointing plate of spaghetti and meatballs last week, her server confided that while the pasta was billed as handmade, it wasn't -- making pasta was so tricky that few restaurants serve homemade spaghetti these days, he told her.

Says TheJeff:

"Nobody" makes homemade pasta because it's "too hard?" Bullshit. There are plenty of places in town doing handmade pasta. That comment makes the place sound as unimpressive as the dried parsley flakes sprinkled on that plate. They sure as hell shouldn't be calling it "homemade" on the menu if it comes from a box, regardless of whether or not the owner thinks "everyone" does it.
What are your favorite places in town for pasta -- homemade or not? Post them below. And come back to Cafe Society later this morning to find out where you don't want to go for "homemade" pasta.

The term "homemade" pasta refers more to the type of pasta (thick egg noodles) as opposed to the fact that they are made in the restaurant. Blue Parrot make their own pasta. So does Dino's.

Blue Parrot's homemade spaghetti is good. It's got just the right bite and great thickness.

Drive to Gargaros.

Buy a pound of pasta and then make a red sauce at home.

Good eats.
