Got a good doughnut idea? Pitch it and win a dozen of them from Ian Kleinman (with winner)

Update: Last week, we asked Cafe Society readers to create a doughnut -- and name that doughnut -- for a chance to win a dozen doughnuts from Ian Kleinman, the founder of the Inventing Room. Kleinman is hosting a doughnut pop-up this week at Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs, and one of the doughnuts that he'll be serving will come from the ingredients submitted by one of our commenters, namely Jon S., who won our contest with his "Rhubarbarella" doughnut, a combination of mascarpone mousse, braised rhubarb, strawberry powder and toasted walnuts Congrats, Jon!, We'll send you an e-mail with directions on how to claim your prize.

Original post: Over the past year, Ian Kleinman, founder of the Inventing Room, a whimsical enterprise that takes sugar highs to new extremes by using molecular gastronomy, has hosted a series of pop-up doughnut shops around Denver, and from July 17-20, he'll haul out his liquid nitrogen tank (and bag of culinary magic tricks) at Biker Jim's, where doughnuts -- not hot dogs -- will be on display from 6 to 10 a.m. "We're bringing back some of the favorites, like the Oink, the Almond Joy, the tropical doughnut and the doughnut bread pudding, but we're experimenting with some new ones, too, including a baklava doughnut that people are really excited about," says Kleinman.

And you can win a dozen of those marvels by entering our "Name Ian's Next Doughnut" contest.

Biker Jim and Ian Kleinman are smokin'.

Kleinman will pump out nine different doughnuts, including one in honor of Curtis Caldwell, the former sous chef of Vesta Dipping Grill who passed away in January. But Kleinman wants to do ten doughnuts, the last of which is going to be a Cafe Society reader concoction.

Here's how this contest is going to work: First, study the doughnut scroll below so you know what's already on the menu. Second, use your creative noggins to come with no more than five ingredients that you'd want in a doughnut, and third, give the doughnut a memorable name. The Cafe Society genius who comes up with the best combination of ingredients -- and name -- will win a dozen of Kleinman's doughnuts (they'll be priced at $5 each at the pop-up breakfasts and can be pre-ordered by going to the Inventing Room website).

Please submit your best doughnut suggestions in the comment section below, along with your name and e-mail address (if you're already registered with MyVoiceNation, we have it; if you're not, then we don't, and if we don't have an e-mail address, we can't contact you if you win...and that means you'll be disqualified from doughnut euphoria). Kleinman will judge the submissions, and we'll announce the winner here on the Cafe Society blog on Monday, July 15.

Here's the menu:

Doughnut bread pudding: salted caramel ice cream, twenty-hour apples, chilled cream

S'mores: hot fudge pastry cream, marshmallow caviar, graham cracker paper

Oink: maple pastry cream, spicy cured bacon, Nutella bacon powder and salted chocolate

Tropical: coconut pastry cream, braised pineapple, mango buttercream and pomegranate bubbles

Almond Joy: coconut pastry cream, salted caramel and chocolate, toasted coconut and shattered almonds

Baklava: honeycomb pastry cream, toasted pistachios, cinnamon sugar soaked phyllo and candied rose petals

Bananarama: cream, warm bananas foster and salted caramel

Lemon meringue: cream, lemon curd, pie crumbs, buttered blueberries
and toasted meringue

Curtis Caldwell: peanut butter mousse, chocolate blanket, peanut butter cup powder, salted exploding whipped cream...and lots of love

The Payphone -when you only get one call, this is what you pick:

Baked red velvet cake donut, buttermilk/creamcheese frosting, vanilla cremé anglaise piped in there (I don't know, I'm not a chef but it can be done), lightly toasted pistachios mashed up into a fine dust. And classic red jimmy's. I'm drooling. Can you make me some? Thank you!
