Eden closes the garden -- and the kitchen -- for "remodeling"
The sign on the Eden website reads "closed for remodeling," and promises that the venue at 3090 Downing Street "will be announcing some major changes here. Please visit us again in the near future to learn about what we will be doing with the space!"
That space on the edge of Five Points, once a former church, has been a lot of things over the years. For decades, it was home to Tosh's Hacienda, a Mexican joint that got its start in a little storefront around the corner. From there, it moved on to become Kiva, Blackberries Bar and the unfortunately named Swallows. In 2011, it was transformed into Eden.
The three-story spot (with two patios) was turned into a veritable garden of Eden and dubbed "a women's bar for everyone." And then it proceeded to prove it with an expansive menu heavy on vegetarian and vegan cuisine; it became particularly popular as a brunch destination.
The building, which is now owned by the folks behind Tracks, also booked plenty of eclectic shows and private parties -- some of which are now scrambling for other spots.
We'll keep you posted on updates.
