Fermentation, food trucks and more fun for the weekend
The inaugural Fermentation Festival & Market will transform the Highlands Masonic Center this weekend. The festival, which showcases an extensive line-up all things fermented, will feature several breweries, including TRVE Brewing, Grand Teton Brewing, Sapporo, Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew, Kokopelli Beer Company, City Star Brewing, Großen Bart Brewery, Yak and Yeti (Saturday only), Gordon Biersch, Verboten Brewing, Twelve Degree Brewing, Brewery Rickoli and Wit's End Brewing. Vodka 14, UK5 Vodka, Juniper Green Gin, Papagayo Organic Rum, Highland Harvest Scotch, Roundhouse Spirits and Wicked Hard will be pouring spirits as well. And Dae Gee Korean BBQ, Vital Cultured Foods, Vibrant Veggies, MM Local Foods, Esoteric Foods, LuLu's BBQ, El Toro, The Tot food truck and Beer Bites Premium Jelly will be offering up a selection of fermented foods. There will also be educational seminars and demonstrations on brewing kombucha tea, kefir fermentation, home cheesemaking, pickling kimchi and sauerkraut, crafting fruit wines and homebrewing. The Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival gets under way today and runs through Saturday, August 24 in Loveland. Festivities include a corn-shucking competition, a corn-eating contest, a parade, live music and food. General attendance and all concerts are free and open to the public. Saturday, August 24:
The Vietnamese Heritage Festival of Colorado takes place today and tomorrow at the Alameda Shopping Center, 2200 West Alameda Avenue. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and there will be food, a Vietnamese Fashion Show, live music, activities for children, martial arts demonstrations, raffles and more. Check the website for more details.
Freshcraft, 1530 Blake Street, is celebrating its third anniversary with a barbecue party beginning at 11 a.m. today. The throwdown includes smoked hens, beef ribs, pulled pork, hot links and peach pie, along with special beers like Stone Farking Wheaton W00tStout, Oskar Blues Appleton Rum Barrel Aged Ten Fidy and Ska Cru D'etat.
