Asking for the check at Tamayo, big debut at DIA: A second helping of Cafe Society August 26-30

The flavorful tampiqueña is one of the better dishes at Tamayo.
This week Gretchen Kurtz visits the remodeled Tamayo -- the second Mexican eatery in Richard Sandoval's global chain of restaurants, which he first opened a dozen years ago in Larimer Square -- for her review, while Carrie Shores of Table 6 spoke with Lori Midson about how she's always found refuge in the kitchen.

Tamayo has always been a restaurant where I know I will experience a fun atmosphere, great service, and food. That combined with a perfect margarita. No, these margs are not served "fishbowl" style...they are served in normal sized glasses...giving you a nice buzz...if I may say so!! This isn't your Texmex joint for greasy burritos smothered in green chile. Instead, try the carnitas or the halibut. Both are innovatively plated and absolutely delicious!!!
