Tour de Fat, a Boulder brewery debut and more for the weekend

New Belgium's annual Tour de Fat, a daylong festival that features brews, bikes costumes and more, rolls out tomorrow at 11 a.m. near 21st Avenue and York Street in City Park. A parade will circle back to the park, where live music, comedy, games and contests will take place. Admission is free, and beer sales will benefit Bike Denver and the Denver Cruisers. Friday, September 6:

Boulder's newest beer-maker, Sanitas Brewing, will hold a grand opening party today from 3 to 10 p.m., featuring several different beers on tap. After that, the brewery will be open from Tuesdays through Fridays from 3 to 10 p.m., and noon to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The brewery boasts mountain views, cornhole and bocce ball sets, as well as a permanent food cart -- an outpost of the Pearl Street Mall's McDevitt Taco Supply. Check the website for more details.

Saturday, September 7:

Bacaro Venetian Taverna, 921 Pearl Street in Boulder, is hosting a grand opening for its new rooftop Bloody Mary bar from 10 a.m. till noon today. There will be five signature drinks available, a build-your-own station, prizes and giveaways. The restaurant will also be offering bottomless mimosas and its regular brunch menu. The grand tasting for the Denver Food and Wine festival goes down today at Metropolitan State University. The event will feature eats from forty local restaurants and more than 600 samples of wine and spirits. There will also be demonstrations by celebrity chefs, including Elise Wiggins of Panzano. Boulder Beer will celebrate its 34th birthday today with its annual Anniversary Beer Rave from 2 to 6 p.m., featuring live music, food and an amazing lineup of rare and underground beers from Boulder Beer and 35 other breweries (go to Boulder Beer's website for the full lineup). Tickets cost $30 and will benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild and the Boulder B-Cycle bike share program.

Sunday, September 8:

Panzano, 909 17th Street, is hosting a special wine dinner for the Denver Food and Wine festival this evening. Executive chef Elise Wiggins is teaming up with local chefs Paul C. Reilly of Beast + Bottle, Bob Blair of Fuel, Aaron Whitcomb of Yia Yia's and guest chef/author Brian Polcyn for the menu. The 12th Annual Big Chili Cook-off will start cooking at the Evergreen Lake House, 29612 Upper Bear Creek Road, in Evergreen today at 10:30 a.m. There will be live music, over 100 chilis, an art show, a children's area and refreshments until 6 p.m, along with a firefighters' challenge and tribute. Admission is $15 at the gate or $12 if ordered online in advance. Children 12 and under enter for free. Go to the website for more information.

The Colorado Distillers Festival will pour into the Rackhouse Pub, 208 Kalamath Street, today from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission includes unlimited spirits samples (within reason) and a buffet meal provided by the pub. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. And each distillery will create a cocktail for Rackhouse's menu; the winner will be chosen by attendees. Visit the festival's website for details.
