The Baker Street Pub & Grill in Boulder closed its doors over the weekend, after four years of operation.

Just last week, the restaurant's Facebook page had sent out an event calendar for October, and there's no update on the site -- but no one answers the phone at the English-themed pub. The three other Baker Street Pubs in the metro area -- in southeast Denver, Westminster and Lakewood are all still open; employees there referred questions about the Boulder location to HUSA Management Inc, the company that operates all Baker St. Pubs, which was not available for comment.

No real surprise re: closing. Chains/food/quality opinions aside (I never went there), the location was terrible. Parking was not great. Biggest issue was first trying to find it (not real obvious when driving past), and second, trying to get in/out of the location was next to impossible (southbound U-36 had easy access, other directions, u-turns, side streets, zig-zagging around to get to the parking lot).

From a chain angle, this was the old Chile's spot, so, if they couldn't make this spot work, tough go of it for other chains.

Boo! I love the Baker Street here in Westminster!

The other ones are doing great. Dtc is always busy as well as Lakewood and Westminster. It was a good business move shutting it down. They are looking at other locations all over Colorado.

A loss? Whoever wrote that headline has never been there, or any of the way better places nearby to have some food and a drink.

The one near 120th and Federal Blvd. does a lot of business, but like someone else said, it's not that good. Not worth the drive from Boulder.

The Belmar location in Lakewood makes great business. It's quite the hang out of generations from 70's & 80's locals that are still in the area. I think it would be bad idea to close that one out.

We have one in the Westminster/Federal Heights area. I don't think it's that great.

You have a news item for the closing of Baker St but no mention that John's Restaurant closed, other than the mention in your open and shut post and the Riverside post?

One mediocre chain restaurant down,  a ridiculous number left to go...

My first thought exactly. May the chains die.
