Photos: Curtis Club opening Friday night a very hot time

Friday night's opening-night festivities at the Curtis Club were hot -- so hot the fire department showed up when the smoke alarm went off. But once the smoke cleared, the party continued. The space looks very different from how it did in its Old Curtis Street Tavern incarnation, but the hood of the stove still dates from that dive-bar era, and apparently still needs work. So the place is closed for a quick fix, but will definitely be back in business for the grand opening slated for Friday, November 1 -- and perhaps as soon as lunch Wednesday.

Our photographer, Philip Poston, was there on Friday night to get pictures of the new space -- and the unexpected guests from the Denver Fire Department.
