Bikes will roll and food films unreel this weekend
The streets of downtown are packed with pretzel-wearing Great American Beer Fest fans. And today, beer enthusiasts will roll their obsession around town on the first
Barrel-Aged Bike Ride with Avery Brewing Company, a day of bike touring and beer tasting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ride (bikes are required) to Falling Rock Tap house, where the tasting begins. From there, the tour goes to Lucky Pie Pizza & Tap House, Euclid Hall, Highland Tap and Burger and Star Bar for the finish. At each stop, riders will receive a four-ounce pour of a rare, Avery barrel-aged beer, a six-ounce pour of palate-cleansing beer and a playing card. The three riders with the best poker hands at the end of the day will win prizes. Tickets are $48.47 and can be purchased online here.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11
Chow Down:IFS Food Film Fest: "Somm"
Boulder's first foodie film fest continues with a screening of Somm at 7 p.m. Friday, October 11, at the Muenzinger Auditorium on the CU Boulder campus. The film reveals the grueling process that Master Sommelier candidates endure on their way to certification; it will be introduced by Bobby Stuckey, co-owner and Master Sommelier of Frasca Food and Wine. Tickets are $7 for general admission, $6 with CU-Boulder student ID, and $6 for seniors.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12
Havana Restaurant Week
Havana Street Restaurant Week starts today and runs through October 20. There are 21 restaurants joining in the festivities, serving everything from breakfast to sushi, wings and frozen yogurt. Chow Down: IFS Food Film Fest
Indian culinary blogger Manisha Pandit will introduce Jadoo, a film about two estranged Indian brothers who operate rival Indian restaurants in the heart of the U.K; it screens at 7 p.m. in Muenzinger Auditorium. At 9 p.m. there will be a showing of A Place at the Table, which explores food insecurity in a small,Western Slope town. Tickets are $7 for general admission, $6 with CU-Boulder student ID, and $6 for seniors.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13
Chow Down: Food Film Fest
The festival concludes with a day filled with three films and a four-course meal. The first film, Now, Forager, follows a professional mushroom forager and his chef wife; it will screen at 2 p.m. at Muenzinger Auditorium.
At 4 p.m., Boulder's first Hummus Throwdown will occur at Shine Restaurant ; where fifteen local chefs will compete to see who makes the best hummus in town, and whet everyone's appetite for the 7 p.m. showing of Make Hummus Not War, which screens at Muenzinger. The film series concludes with a short film about Maurizio Negrini, the third-generation Italian master baker at Udi's Artisan Bakery. Tickets are $7 for general admission, $6 with CU-Boulder student ID, and $6 for seniors.
Local Legends Gala
Boulder County Aids Project is hosting its 27th annual Local Legends Gala at the Hotel Boulderado, celebrating the individuals who have had a major impact on the BCAP and in the battle against HIV and AIDS. The culinary event features a dozen of Boulder's top chefs, who will team up in pairs and create unique dishes for a five-course meal. The event will also feature local wines as well as Mountain Sun Beer , and specialty cocktails featuring 303 Vodka. There will be both silent and live auctions feauring Last, but not least, there will be both silent and live auctions selling raw diamond earrings from Todd Reed Jewelery, a weekend in Aspen, a year of fine dining and more -- with all proceds going to BCAP.
