Ya Hala Grill gives up its spot on South Colorado Boulevard

Ya Hala Grill, a three-time winner for Best Middle Eastern Restaurant, has closed after the owners gave up the lease on the space on South Colorado Boulevard.

According to owner Majed Khaski, the landlord was going to raise the rent when the ten-year lease expired. "It more than doubled the rent on the building and we couldn't afford it," Khaski says.

The owners are going to try to reopen Ya Hala in some other spot. "We're still looking for another place," Khaski adds. "It's not going to be soon."

The owners also run Donut Burst in Lakewood.

Ya Hala Grill was great.  It was just a couple of blocks from home.  I'm sorry I didn't get in one last visit.

They should move to the West side of Colfax Near Kipling.

Good... last time I was in there it was dreadful. Place dirty, food almost inedible. Just one diner's opinion

That's too bad. I liked the food on my visits there.

Unfortunately we seem to be seeing this issue arise more and more lately - for example, it was part of the reason the owners of Beirut Grill decided to scupper their plans to open a downtown location.
