Gunther Toody's, a local chain that served up heaping helpings of nostalgia, is down one location. The store at 4500 East Alameda Avenue has closed, and its phone is disconnected.

The Gunther Toody's chain was founded over three decades ago by a couple who wanted to revive the diner culture and then inject the "diner philosophy" in assorted Colorado cities.

The chain eventually grew to eight locations around Denver and in Colorado Springs; the closing of the Alameda spot takes it down to seven.

Gunther Toody's is awesome. So sad they closed on Alameda and the one on 58th Ave (Ralston) and Wadsworth. I used to live 1-2 blocks away from the one in Arvada. Great breakfast deals, especially the Big Bopper for $3.00 at that time, but it has since gone up slightly. It's still a good deal.

That's what bad management will do, kill a business. The one in Arvada has terrible management. Doesn't surprise me one bit. They used to be half way decent. Oh well plenty of great food places in denver area.

last time I was there they really made me mad at the one on Wadsworth. I had a 3 year old with me. Wednesday hamburgers were a nickel if I bought one at full price, but I could not get her hamburger for a nickel because hers was considered a kids burger. Had to ante up full price ($6) for hers. Manager was uncaring.

Haven't been in a few years but their Chicken Fried Chicken breakfast was excellent.

I was there Friday. Sing in door said temporally closed due to storm damage.

I went once. The food was like cafeteria food. I think Ronald Reagan was cooking the food.

Pretty sure Obama has nothing to do with the shitty hamburgers and the half ass milk shakes made by 16 year old kids dressed as Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. Tool!

Food is typical diner food and good I might ad. This was the cleanest place I ever worked in my life.

I went there all the time and the food was amazing. It was priced nice as well. Due to Sam's #3, Gunther's is now gone. Sadly it cost half as much to eat great food at Gunther Toody's.

I went once. It is the only time I have ever got up and walked out because I waited so long for service. After almost 15 minutes no one had even offered a glass of water and they were not busy.

Maybe it's because of the terrible food and unclean restaurants?? Just sayin'.

Or it was a lease dispute and don't knock a job until you've tried it
