Photos: Oskar Blues will open Cyclhops Bike CANtina in Longmont
The Oskar Blues crew is better known for peddling beer than pedaling bikes, but their new restaurant is bringing both to Longmont, under one roof. With tacos. And tequila.

The Cyclhops Bike CANtina is an Oskar Blues joint through and through, right down to the pun in its name. And, when it officially opens on New Year's Eve, will bring a little cool to the suburban side of Longmont, with a sweet interior, a retail bike shop, and a menu of Mexican-style tacos, tortas, and other dishes.
The story goes like this: Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis had his fancy bike stolen one day, but rather than buy a new one, he decided to just make his own. Thus, REEB Cycles was born (yes, it's beer spelled backwards). "The whole idea was to make hand-crafted bikes -- because that's kind of how we do everything," says Tim Moore of REEB. At Cyclhops, customers can buy one of four REEB models. Or, they can roll in on their own ride and have a beer while it gets worked on in the full-service garage.
Chef Jason Rogers -- who oversees the kitchens at all OB restaurants -- has created a menu that takes modern taqueria cuisine and imposes Oksar Blues's proudly weird spirit. Think menudo, Yucatan pork pibil, and a lengua taco special on Tuesdays.
Renowned graffiti artist and Westword MasterMind Jolt set the tone for the fresh space (which has held numerous other restaurants over the past decade) with a safety-vest-green mural depicting a peloton of jolly cyclist skeletons. The restaurant holds other surprises, like a cozy tequila tasting room in back.
Before their grand opening on December 31, we took a look at what Cyclhops had to offer and brought back photos of Longmont's only bike shop/bar/restaurant.
