Reader: We know what we like, and it ain't the pizzas at Denver's Pizzeria Locale
It was one of the worst-kept secrets in town: When Frasca's founders decided to bring a version of Pizzeria Locale to Denver, they partnered with Chipotle Mexican Grill to turn the full-service concept into a fast-casual concept with the potential to expand. In her review of Denver's Pizzeria Locale, which opened this past May, Gretchen Kurtz even called it "Pizzeria Locale, Steve Ells-style," since the operation seemed so reminiscent of the fast-casual Chipotle chain founded in Denver two decades before by Ells. And as it turns out, Ells was a silent partner in the project -- but the group is silent no more, and this morning sent out a statement acknowledging Chipotle's role in Pizzeria Locale, which could soon expand two more locations in Denver.

Says Denver Dave:
We thought maybe we were just rubes and didn't know from "real" pizza but we know what we like and this ain't it. I'm sure they're printing money though. Maybe we were just setting the bar too high because we love their Boulder stores so much. Honestly, Lean Cuisine's "pizzas" are more flavorful. How do you like the pizzas at the Boulder Pizzeria Locale? How about the Denver Pizzeria Locale? What are your favorite pizzas in town?
