Barley's Angels lead off a week of brews, wines and chocolate
Barley's Angels, a global organization of women sharing craft beer with other women, will be opening a new, roaming chapter in Colorado, which will visit taprooms along the Front Range. Every month, there will be one meeting in Denver and one in Boulder, typically scheduled on the fourth Monday and Wednesday of each month. The first Denver meeting is at 7 p.m. tonight at Wynkoop Brewing Company and includes a trio of food bites and beer pairings from the brewery, presented by Bess Dougherty, Wynkoop's first fulltime female brewer. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online.

The Monday night wine dinners keep flowing at Frasca Food and Wine; tonight's edition, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will feature a flight of various wines presented by Jeff Morgenthal, wine director for Drago in Santa Monica. Morgenthal, along with Frasca's Bobby Stuckey, will pour the wines of Tercic, a winery based in the San Floriano del Collio region in the easternmost area of northern Italy and will include such wines as Friulano, Malvasia/Friulano blend, Vino deli and Merlot. Wines will be paired with a seasonal, four-course meal prepared by chef/co-owner Lachlan Mackinnon Patterson.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 28
Join local master sommelier Doug Krenik at Arugula Bar e Ristorante as he and Arugula's own Master Sommelier guides guests through a tasting of various wines from Spain beginning at 6:30 p.m. All wines -- one white, three reds and one sherry -- will be accompanied by a Spanish-inspired menu created by chefs Alec Schuler and Sven Hedenas. Tickets are $45, with an additional $35 per person for the wines (plus tax and gratuity); to reserve a seat, call 303-443-5100.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29
Foodscapes, a new project by Soul Cocina that explores the farm-to-table movement through the arts, will be partnering up with SERES, a non-profit organization that helps spread sustainability in Guatemala, on a Chocolate Odyssey. Tonight's event starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Posner Center, will be a sensory exploration of the cacao plant and surrounding issues. Chef Roger Feely of Soul Cocina will create a multi-course meal featuring chocolate in every dish. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 30
The Warwick Denver Hotel is teaming up with Colorado Springs-based Bristol Brewing Company for a winter beer tasting, with beers ranging from the robust Smokebrush Porter to the Winter Warlock Oatmeal Stout.
