Denver Restaurant Week ends, Great Plates begins, and other spots on the culinary map
Denver Restaurant Week wraps up tonight -- but if you hurry, you can still snag a reservation at one of more than 300 participating restaurants. And some of those eateries have decided to offer their special, multi-course $30 menus into March. To see those menus and the list of participating restaurants, click here. Colorado native Montgomery Knott has returned to the Mile High City from New York, bringing with him his experimental, immersive food and film experience: Monkey Town 4. The event debuted last night, and features a curated program of video art by eighteen local and national artists; along with a changing slate of pop-up performers and a meal of several courses created by chefs from the Populist, City, O' City/WaterCourse and Noble Swine Supper Club.The video cube and dining installation will operate as a nightly pop-up dinner spot at Exdo Hall at 3545 Larimer Street, running nightly except Mondays through June 1, with two seatings of 32 guests each night for the five-course meal. The Denver Botanic Gardens is hosting Gather, its intimate dinner experience, tonight. Each quarter the Botanic Gardens team up with a local chef to showcase his or her culinary talents. This dinner will feature the vegetarian comfort food of chef Rachel Kelsey, executive chef at WaterCourse Foods. Tickets are limited to 75 guests and sales officially ended on Monday, but maybe you can get lucky on the Botanic Gardens website.
Chef Geoff Rhyne, of The Ordinary in Charleston, South Carolina, is the fourth chef to take to the road for Great Roads to Great Chefs. This fifteen-week series features a different chef preparing a special meal at Held Table, the Stanley Hotel's newest restaurant, every Friday and Saturday; it's put on by Hush Concepts. Great Roads to Great Chefs is a chance for up-and-coming chefs to showcase their talents. reservations are limited and are priced at $100 per diner. The Downtown Fort Collins Business Association has teamed up with the Food Bank for Larimer County to present Great Plates of Downtown. During the annual event, which runs from March 1 to March 14, more than thirty of Fort Collins's downtown restaurants will offer dinner specials priced at $25 and breakfast plates for only $2.50.
