Beer dinners, beer festivals and a visit from Suzanne Goin on the culinary calendar

The start of Denver Restaurant Week is still six days away. Before you plunge into that annual eating orgy, there are still plenty of delicious events on the culinary calendar. Here's just a taste of what's on tap.

Front Range Brewing Company will host a Brewmaster Dinner, the second of a four-part series, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, February 17. The brewery will team up with Connie Ruel, chef instructor at Boulder's Escoffier School of Culinary Arts and owner of the catering company Follow The Ruel, to create the five-course meal, complete with beer pairings. Tickets are $47; for reservations and more information, call the brewery at 303-339-0767.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18
At 5:30 p.m. tonight Frasca Food and Wine will welcome Suzanne Goin, 2006 James Beard award winner for Best California Chef, who will collaborate with Chef Lachlan Patterson McKinnon to create a four-course meal inspired by Goin's The A.O.C. Cookbook. The dinner will also include wine pairings selected by 2012 Beard winner Bobby Stuckey, Master Sommelier. The $148 ticket includes the four-course meal, paired wines, and a signed copy of The A.O.C. Cookbook. For reservations, call 303-442-6966. (Note: this dinner was originally scheduled for February 19.)

The duck stops here! From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight at the Seasoned Chef Cooking School , Chef Matt Lewis of Jax Fish House will dive into the world of duck. This hand-on course will showcase such dishes as seared duck breast, roast duck steamed buns, and duck and coconut waffles. Tuition is $80; register on the Seasoned Chef website.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20
Crepes 'n Crepes in downtown Denver will host an evening dedicated to wine, cheese and jazz from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, cheese and crepes while listening to live jazz performances. Tickets are $20, and include a chance to win dinner accommodations at any Crepes 'n Crepes location. Make a reservation online.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 21
Northwest Beer Fest will come to the Oriental Theater from 8 p.m. until midnight tonight In a benefit for Skinner Middle School and North High School. There will be a Battle of the bands, as well as samples from more than ten local breweries.Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, 21+ only. For more information, go to www.nwbeerfest.com.
