Hungering to get out of the house? The deep freeze will be thawing today, so it's time to make plans to take in some of this weekend's culinary events.

Ever wonder why wine and cheese make for such great friends? BookCliff Vineyards in Boulder will host an intimate tasting that pairs cheeses from Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy with wines from the vineyard. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include six cheeses paired with six wines, along with appetizers. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased online.

The Stanley Hotel has launched a weekend culinary series, Great Roads to Great Chefs at Table, the Stanley's new restaurant in The Lodge. The series will feature some of the nation's most promising chefs, many from Colorado. Each chef will prepare a five-course meal, with wine pairings, for just twenty guests. On February 7 and February 8, chef Alec Schuler of Tangerine Boulder and Arugula Boulder will be doing the cooking. Packages start at $400/couple with hotel accommodations; dinner-only is $100. Call 970-577-4000 or 1-800-976-1377 for reservations; for more information, check out the Table website. A portion of the proceeds from the series will be donated to flood relief at Community Foundation of Northern Colorado.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8

Taste tickets are $5 for six or $1 each, with all proceeds benefiting Ralston House. Along with tastings, there will be numerous free events, including a chocolate treasure hunt, chocolate chip cookie- and brownie-baking contest, entertainment for the kiddos, and romantic carriage rides for older love birds.
