Steve Lewis uncorks at Monday Night Wine Dinner at Frasca

Bobby Stuckey, co-owner of Frasca Food and Wine, is a Master Sommelier, and he proves it every Monday night when the landmark Boulder restaurant invites a winemaker to be the featured guest at a special Monday Night Wine Dinner, the only menu served that night. Tonight the four-course menu will be paired to wines from Isole e Olena, poured by Steve Lewis. "I could always come to this night," Stuckey says on the Frasca website. "The great Steve Lewis is here. When Frasca opened almost ten years ago, Steve Lewis was our chief source of intelligent Italian wine. It's nice that a decade later the same is true. Steve has allowed us the opportunity to spread the good word of 'Di Marchi.' Of course, we are referring to Paolo and his wines. In Tuscany, the wines have been revered since I was in high school -- so, for a while -- and on this night we will focus on these: Chianti, Cepparello, Cabernet. Great night!"

The four-course tasting menu by co-owner Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson is $50; the accompanying wine flight is $50, and includes Isole e Olena 2011 Chianti Classico, Isole e Olena 2009 "Cepparello," and Collezione Privata 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Château Musar with Serge and Marc Hochar

This is really exciting! Château Musar is a testament to the tenacity and determination of Serge Hochar. His father, Gaston, created the winery in 1930 in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley after returning from Bordeaux. Serge, who took over the reins in 1959 after studying with Émile Peynaud made the winery what it has become today. Throughout the Lebanese Civil War he unerringly turned vintage after vintage, despite often working under high risk and dangerous situations. Although the winery is quite close to Beirut, the grapes are farmed nearly 30 miles away at over 3000 feet in the fertile Bekaa Valley. These are some of the most singular and age worthy wines made in the old world. We will be pouring two reds and a white.

Ar.Pe.Pe With Isabella Pelizzatti Perego

Isabella Pelizzatti Perego, enologist and owner of Valtellina's most inspired winery, Ar.Pe.Pe, joins us again to lead us through an all red flight. These are different wines than any other Nebbiolo made in Italy -here called Chiavennasca. The wines of Ar.Pe.Pe are aged longer before release than other producer in Valtellina, in both large neutral wood as well as in bottle. These are extraordinarily elegant and fine wines with lower alcohol and more delicate tannins than Barolo or Barbaresco. Ar.Pe.Pe is an acronym for Arturo Pelizzatti Perego, who founded the winery in 1984. This is an all red flight.

Wines Of Italy with Master Sommelier Damon Ornowski

Our good friend Damon Ornowski joins us to pour and discuss a flight of wines from three different regions in Italy: Umbria, Sicily, and Friuli. Damon certainly sees the world of wine differently than anyone else we know, and this always makes for great discourse. We will start off with 2012 Livio Felluga Sauvignon from Friuli, then move into two reds: Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana and Tabarrini Sagrantino from Montefalco in Umbria.
