Most Denverites are familiar with the concept of sustainability, and Denver's culinary scene is quite eco-conscious. From homegrown chains like Chipotle to higher-end dining options, the Mile High City is full of restaurants that look for locally grown food sources that have minimal environmental impact. But even as the sustainable food movement grows, there's always room for more growth. Every year Earth Day is a reminder to keep fighting that good fight -- and eating good food. Here are two ways to do your part today.

Join Slow Food Denver and Chipotle at The Source for a special screening of the James Beard Award-nominated documentary Eating Alabama. The film follows a young couple who return to Alabama on a journey to eat the way their grandparents did -- both locally and seasonally -- and their struggles after finding out how much the food system has changed since their grandparents' time. Admission is free, and there will be food and drinks available for purchase; sales will benefit Slow Food Denver. The event starts at 6 p.m.; visit Slowfooddenver.org for more information.

Planet Sub, through its partnership with Trees for the Future, will plant a tree for every sandwich sold in its stores today. The chain hopes to plant over 8,000 trees today. Head to Planet Sub, which opened late last year at 1617 California Street, to buy a sub and help the company reach its goal. For more information on Trees for the Future, click here.
